Recap: Houston vs. Memphis

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Aaron Brooks' short running jumper with 16.3 seconds to play gave Houston the lead, and Ron Artest scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in his Rockets' debut as Houston slipped past Memphis, 96-93, in preseason action.
Brooks scored 13 points and Carl Landry just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds in the victory. Tracy McGrady missed the contest while still recovering from knee surgery, and Yao Ming donated 10 points and nine boards in his first NBA contest since he broke a bone in his foot in February.
Houston gave 10 players 20 or more minutes of action in the win.
Hakim Warrick led Memphis with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo added 14 points apiece. Mayo, the rookie out of USC, made 6- of-13 from the floor in just over 30 minutes. Mike Conley scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists in defeat.
The lead changed 13 times with 10 ties in the back-and-forth battle.
