Court Rivals 8/7/08

It is that time Court Rival fans, time for a new Court Rivals thread!  I apologize to everyone that doesn't play court rivals and has no interest in this thread.  We are doing our best to cut down on the amount of these that are created and try to maintain all the info in as few threads as possible.  Thanks for your patience and understanding, oh and for being TomInHawaii.

Carrying on!  Here is the latest Google Player Attribute spreadsheet which was updated on 8/6/08 by the kind and wonderful Jerryd Oden.  If you have access and can update your team regularly it would be a great help, and reduce the work of one person.

In the latest BlazersEdge faux-league standings we have a Google League Standing Spreadsheet brought to us by the great Lamarcus Royden.  Thanks guys!

Tonight the Bedgers match up with the PooDevils in a college C matchup.

vERRYkERRPLEX takes on Just Blaze in a highly anticipated BlazersEdge league matchup.

Bedgers2 face off against Crownthisteam, CTT is a college A team.

Red Unit drives the lane on Rebel without a cause.  RWAC is a team with fillers and should be destroyed.

B-Edge Odenizers show no mercy for the Boondock Ballers.  The BB's should be a solid test for the Odenizers.

Blazing the Edge laughs heartily at the  Heath Falcons.  Blazing the Edge is looking to get on track, and the Falcons look like just the team to do it against.

BlazersEdgers will battle BoA.  This looks like a great game that could go either way.

Nate refuses contract extension talks?

Jason Quick is reporting that Nate has turned down contract extension talks this summer.

McMillan said he turned down an offer this summer to negotiate a contract extension with the Blazers. McMillan, who has two years remaining on a five-year, $30 million deal, said he wants to finish his five years before thinking about an extension. "I want to earn it," McMillan said. "We haven't done anything here yet, and when my five years is done, I want to make sure they want me and make sure I want to be here."

This was an add on to a post about Bayless playing at the point.  For the full article click here.

2006 NBA Draft

Hey everyone, I was out of town when the 2006 NBA Draft went down and was unable to watch it.

This might sound kind of strange, but for like the last week I've felt this overwhelming urge to watch it (at least the first round) but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.  I've google'd, I've searched on youtube, looked on other video sharing websites like stage6, but I can't find it.  Has anyone seen it around?

If you have and could point me in the proper direction I'd really appreciate it.

Hollinger's Playoff odds

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffodds

Above is think to the Hollinger playoff odds, and for the first time in just about forever, we are actually projected to make the playoffs.  Granted our odds are 50.2% so it is basically a coin flip at this point.

Still, I bought season tickets with a co-worker when we got the number one pick.  Then Oden got hurt, and we thought "Oh well, its fun to go to games, this is our investment in next year".  I didn't think we'd be at this point yet, and maybe in two weeks we won't be at this point, right now though it sure is fun!

Pete Rose bet on Reds every night

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2798498

Pete Rose bet on the Reds every night while he managed them, and told Dan Patrick about it today on his ESPN radio show.

Random pre-pro baseball Rose Facts:
Rose grew up in a working-class area of nearby Anderson Ferry, Ohio as one of four children to Harry and LaVerne Rose, and was encouraged as a young boy to participate in sports. His father, who played semi-professional football, was the biggest influence on Pete and his sports career.

He played both baseball and football at Western Hills High School. Rose paid so little attention to his studies in ninth grade that his teacher decreed he would have to attend summer school or be held back. His father kept Rose out of summer school: it was better for his son to repeat a year of school, Harry Rose said, than miss a season playing ball.

Pete Rose was a member of the Order of DeMolay as a young man and is a member of their Hall of Fame.

Buck O'neil passes on

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Buck O'Neil, a batting champion in the Negro Leagues before becoming the first black to serve as a major league coach, has died. He was 94.

The beloved national figure as the unofficial goodwill spokesman for the Negro Leagues died Friday night in a Kansas City hospital, eight months after he fell one vote short of the Hall of Fame.

Link can be found here

That's too bad, but he did live a long full life.  You're a Hall of Famer in my mind Buck.
